Gasper Sabas, a 63-year-old resident of Kitasha village in Rombo district, located in Kilimanjaro Region is a man of many talents. As a farmer and carpenter, he has always worked tirelessly to provide for his family. However, Gasper faced significant challenges in his life, primarily low agricultural production despite using industrial fertilizers and pesticides. The weight of supporting his family's daily needs often left him feeling overwhelmed.

In 2016, Gasper's life took a remarkable turn when he joined one of the groups managed by Floresta Tanzania called Hapa Kazi Tu group. His decision to become a member of this group was influenced by the explanation of Floresta's facilitator, who was also a fellow choir member at their church. Gasper was eager to embrace this opportunity for change.

Once part of the group, Gasper embarked on a journey of learning and transformation. He gained valuable insights into environmental conservation and the principles of organic farming, which included tree planting, soil conservation, and the use of double dug techniques and organic pesticides. These newfound skills allowed Gasper to significantly increase his agricultural productivity.

Today, Gasper's life has undergone a profound transformation. He now earns enough to meet his family's needs and is even able to save for the future. His family is happier, and Gasper has strengthened his bonds with neighbours and the wider community.

In reflecting on his journey, Gasper expressed his gratitude, saying, "I thank God for the arrival of the Floresta organization in our area because through this organization, my life has changed. I would like the training to continue being provided, and I pray for the organization to expand and reach more people so that they can benefit like me."

Gasper Sabas's story is a testament to the power of education, community support, and sustainable farming practices in transforming the lives of individuals and communities. His journey from struggle to prosperity serves as an inspiring example for others seeking positive change in their lives.
