On June 5th, 2025, Floresta Tanzania joined the global community in celebrating World Environment Day by leading a coordinated cleanup campaign across key areas in Kilimanjaro Region. The activities were carried out at Mboya Bus Station in Moshi Municipal and Kitala Dispensary in Sambweni Village, Same District, where staff and local communities came together to clean public spaces and raise awareness on environmental conservation.
Participants took part in cleaning heavily used public spaces, collecting plastic waste, and sharing educational messages on how poor waste management affects human health, biodiversity, and the climate. The activity demonstrated that meaningful environmental action can begin at the community level with committed individuals taking the lead and inspiring others to do the same.
Through Radio Moshi FM’s live coverage, listeners from across the Region were able to hear key messages, interviews, and updates, making the campaign not just a local activity but a regional call to environmental action.
This year’s theme, “Beat Plastic Pollution,” aligns well with Floresta Tanzania’s mission to protect and restore the environment. The cleanup campaign was planned not only to make the local areas cleaner but also to encourage people to work together for lasting change. It aimed to build a culture where taking action and leading by example are key to fighting environmental challenges.
